Cortana is a lovely action figure, but damn she’s hard to photograph. I wish I could capture how pretty she is when she’s all lit up from inside. She’s like a little sassy half-naked blue angel.

Oh! And there is McFarlane’s “Man of Miracles” back again. We last saw him in HAFT #51 on the astral plane giving oblique advice to Jason-VII and Lois-312.

The return of the blue nude! As opposed to the blue figurine seen back in March 2008, which was the lovely lit-up McFarlane version of Cortana, the itty bitty Cortana seen here is the Halo Action Clix Cortana. Considering the figure is only about an inch and a half tall, I think the detailing is pretty amazing. Here I’ve lit teeny weeny Cortana with a small blue flashlight to highlight her features.

I’ve been extremely discouraged about the color on the last… dozen or so HAFTs and it was becoming increasingly painful to take my photos with my trusty Kodak DX3900, which required a ton of color adjustment with photoshop. I tried getting a new camera, but the newer equivalent Kodak camera has all sorts of automatic light adjustments just… look worse. The last few HAFTs have been either too yellow cast or blurry or… meh.

So, I moved my whole set up from Eevil Twin Studios (my bedroom) and into the Tai Chi Knees Studio (my home office/music room), which has a lot of windows, and I got 2 of those 100mW- equivalent new fangled swirly light bulbs. I did these no-flash shots today with the natural light and the two bulbs (and a tiny LED light shining on the back of the tiny HaloCLIX Cortana). Now the figures actually look the correct color with no post-processing necessary.

Now my only problem is my office is (more) filled with HAFT stuff. Tsk tsk. The wacky things people will do for a little attention on the internet. I mean… really.

I think it is important to never tell anyone your dreams. Unless you want people to know you have a deep abiding fear of Campbell’s soup cans.

Thank you for the many kind messages during the HAFT drought. I am a bit rusty, but hopefully I’ll get my photographic and photoshoppic skills (skillz?) back up to speed post haste!

Hrk blah is right… I assume this has been finals week for many of the students and teachers out there… so “Yay!” if you are finished!
